Aza, would you elaborate on how you are an owner? We have a pro team in Indy now called Indy eleven. I hate the name but growing up in south Texas I do like soccer. People underestimate how easy the media can sell something with all the hispanics and people rallying behind their city for a sports team. Soccer can easily expand their market in the US. If anything I would say it is long overdue. Pretty much any hispanic restaraunt will be playing soccer on the tv when you walk in.
i did not say that i was an owner, i said that i was the kind of fan that owners chase after. moderate sports fans with the means to buy tickets and merchandise in a market that has a lot of room for growth.
You live in USA dont you? Why would the arsenal owners chase fans like you? You dont buy tickets and go to any games, I assume you dont pay to watch them on TV. You probably buy a maximum of 1 shirt every few years.
1. all the major clubs like to play a few games in the preseason in the US. 2. most US soccer fans pay for premium channels on TV just so they can watch their team, and all the major leagues and their teams get a cut from that. 3. shirts are expensive here. i buy one a year and that ends up being about 60 bucks. that is money that the team would not be getting otherwise. 4. i dont know about your team, but arsenal has a fan club that you have to pay to be a part of and it allows you to get random perks like seeing games that would not be televised and having access to skype chats with players.
honestly, i'm planning a trip to go see scotland because i wanna see the land where my clan comes from. i'm planning that trip around soccer season so that i can make sure i also get to go to london and watch my team play live for the first time. so i'll call your fandom, and raise you a trip half way around the world to see your team play.
But fans in the UK do all that, except they buy more kits, buy a LOT more tickets at like £60+ a go for arsenal, buy match programmes etc at the ground
They dont care how far you travel for 1 match, they care about the guy who goes every week.
Arsenal doesn't give a shit about your plane tickets aza. They care about their season ticket holders and their away fans
You come at a dime a dozen. Glory hunters all over the world who havn't got a clue. Filling the stadium is their first priority. Why do you think there is such thing as blackouts of the saturday kick offs?

Are you guys seriously arguing about who spends more money on something thats just as entertaining for free?
"I blow like $10k at the strip club every weekend, suck that guy who watches porn for free hahaahaha"
Im not arguing about who spends more money, im arguing his ridiculous point that he somehow thinks he is worth more to the club than their home fans
of course i'm worth more than the home fans. they already have you. i really dont understand why this concept is so far over your heads. companies spend much less focus on keeping brand loyalists than they do on converting new loyalists. they already know you are going to pay the ticket prices. they know that you will buy the jerseys. they know that you will support them because you have already invested yourself far too much not to. growing a brand is all about finding new markets and appealing to new fans, thats why its called GROWTH.
you are not special because you have been to a stadium and seen a game. i've been to American Football games here in the states where my local college team has a bigger stadium than any EPL team and has the nation's longest sell out streak. that doesnt make me a better fan than some kid living in Thailand watching games on saturday with shitty internet because he found something that he enjoys. if anything he is a much more passionate fan, because its easy for me to watch my team, he has to put in effort. (true story, a guy i know met a girl and moved to Thailand and his kid watches all the games because his dad passed on a love for football)
There is a massive difference in supporting your team and being a fan .... im a fan I dont see the point in supporting something that wont make any difference if I support or be a fan,
The main issue I have is Aza coming in here and declaring he is far more important when he's just another number across the ocean. Who doesn't give a flying fuck about one of the most prestigious trophies in the world. And how could he? He doesn't have a real clue about his football club.
Don't say all that shite then come in here and say you are somehow more important to the club.
Football may be steeped in too much money but it's more than just a business for you fat bastards to enjoy. It's Sport. It's Godlike and it's worth a damn sight more than you ever will
i understand the amount of time and money local fans put into the game but there are those self-entitled fans that think it makes their opinions automatically correct and will waste no time telling you how you aren't a true fan because you haven't been to as many matches as them.
if the club condoned that sort of attitude then they wouldn't perform well in the international market and be worse off. those stupid fans dont realise that.
well thankfully that isnt true at all zeal. if it was actually a local only game then the league would die because not enough people would care and then i wouldnt get to watch my stars painfully miss the playoffs again.

You display your vast wealth of knowledge yet again.

you're right, because the NATIONAL hockey league (that actually has teams from two different nations) is obviously just some local effort.
i swear to God none of you have ever taken a fucking marketing class in your life

They already have you you idiot, difference is you give them a LOT less money.
true, they have me. the difference is that you are very unlikely to convince one of your friends to become a follower of the team, as i assume most of your friends would already be loyal followers of some team or another, given your demographic. most of my friends have never even watched soccer before, and it is much more likely that i will find somebody who has no team and turn them on to the club than you are.
Arsenal never stood a chance, Bayern are superior in every single way, it will be 9 years without silverware come the end of the season just like i said it would be.
