WWIV: Witches Win!

edited January 2012 in General
Witch Hunt

Witch Hunt will begin on day 1 and alternate between day and night. Lynching and electing the Mayor will take place during the day. Lynching takes place when a majority is reached, followed by night. During the night, all nightly role actions much be submitted. Role actions will be given precedence on a first come, first served basis; however, no information or kills will be processed until the night is over.

Polarity: Every role has an assigned polarity (positive, neutral, negative). All witches have a neutral polarity. Witches have two types of kills: positive kill and negative kill. In order for a kill to succeed, the witches must match the proper polarity kill with the kill target (ex. A positive kill on player with negative polarity would fail). If there is a mismatch, the kill fails. Either kill type will work on a neutral polarity.

Mayor: Every day, the town must elect someone to act as the Mayor for the night and the following day. The chosen player will learn who the witches targeted (and with what type of kill) as well as a transcript of everything said in witch chat during the past day/night. The mayor will also have 2 votes in the case of a tie. However, after being made Mayor, you cannot be elected again for two days after you serve your term. NO NIGHT ACTIONS WILL AFFECT THIS PLAYER.

Witches: There will be 5 Witch roles. Four of these witches will be assigned a Quicktopic to share. No names or roles will be revealed to these four witches. They may speak only through their assigned pseudonym. The 5th witch (the Demon) will not have access to the Witch Chat, but will be given the names of all other witches, and will be able to make an independent night kill. The QT thread can be used to discuss the game, and any strategies the team may wish to discuss. The witches must kill by consensus vote.

Roles:

Witches – 5 (Neutral)
Kashaph – Can view the polarity of any player once per night.
Magjistare - Can view a player’s role with 50% chance of Success.
Bruixa - Can convert one player into a witch per game. That witch will keep the powers of their human role.
Hexe – Is informed of who the Oracle and Compass Bearer visit in the night. Once per game, Hexe may fake a reports those two roles are given.
The Demon – Knows who the other witches are, but does not join the Witch chat. The demon has an independent night kill, and may redirect any actions targeted at him by the witches.

Humans – 16

Positive Roles
Doctor – Can choose one person a night to protect from attack.
Nurse – If the doctor is killed, the nurse receives the power to protect from attack with 50% chance of success.
Oracle - Can view a player’s Role with 50% chance of Success
Policeman – Blocks the night actions of one player per night by sending them to jail. The person sent to jail will be announced publicly.
The Lover – At night, you may attach yourself to any player. Doing so will render you both safe from any night kills. However, if either player is targeted by polarity or role views, they will receive both sets of information.

Negative Roles
Vigilante – Kills once per night
Sidekick – if the Vigilante dies, the sidekick gains the power to kill once per night, with 50% chance of success.
Dentist – May silence one player per night, the person silenced may not speak during the day. If the silenced player speaks, he will be killed.
Magneto – At night, visit one player. That player’s polarity will be randomized for the night.
Channeler – You have access to the Dead Chat, and may speak to all dead players freely, using your Pseudonym.

Neutral Roles
Compass Bearer – Can view a player’s polarity.
Electrician – During the night, the electrician can change the polarity of any two players to a polarity of his choice. Having your polarity changed by the Electrician only changes the type of attack necessary to kill you. Players will be informed if their polarity changes.
Apprentice – The Electrician’s apprentice gains his power to change polarities upon the electrician’s death, however, he may only change the polarity of one person per night.
Hangman – At night, choose one player to gain lynch immunity the next day.
Sacrificial Lamb – The Lamb may choose, at any point in the game, to kill himself to save another player’s life, or to return a dead player to the ranks of the living.
Iron Golem – The first time you would die to a night kill, you survive.
