Scavenger Hunt 2014

edited September 2014 in General
Rules
This game is going to follow standard scavenger hunt rules for the most part. I've made a list of things, and you have to go find the things and take pictures of them. Some of the items on the list are specific items, however, others are attributes of items, such as color or texture. This game is going to be different from others in that a single picture can fulfill multiple requirements from the scavenger hunt list.

For example: If you take a picture of a basketball, it fulfills the requirements for Basketball, an orange item, and a rough item. 3 items you can now check off your list.

Due to the forum format, you must have some sort of sig or signature item in each picture, to verify that it is, in fact, a picture you took. For your first picture, you must use your forum name and the date. Subsequent pictures can use only your forum name. If you wish to use a signature item, include that item in your first picture. All players are required to post their dated signature within the first 3 calendar days. Anyone who does not will be removed from the player list.

Scavenging pictures of items off of Google is not allowed. Pictures of pictures are also not allowed. Items must be real. Toy representations of items are acceptable. Please do not post any pictures of a questionable nature. All pictures should be family friendly and safe for work.

Players are allowed to post a maximum of 1 picture per calendar day. The first player to check off every item on the list is the winner. There is no particular order required for completion. This allows for greater flexibility and convenience than my previous format. There is no minimum posting requirement, but if I notice someone hasn't posted anything for about a week or so, I'll consider them as having quit.

When posting pictures, please state in your post which items on the list you intended to fulfill with the picture you took. this will make it easier for me to track the completion status of all the players. To bring back the previous example of a basketball... A picture without any statement, I will not count. If the player merely labels it "basketball", then it will only count for the basketball requirement. If the player labels it as "basketball, orange", then it will fulfill those two requirements, and so on.

Any given picture can contain multiple items, and fulfill as many requirements as you wish it to. This is intended to reward creativity.

If there is somehow a tie, with 2 players completing the hunt on the same day, There is a point system to decide the winner. If players are requested to take a picture of a car, then a real car is 2 points, and a toy car is 1 point. Pictures which fulfill multiple requirements simultaneously will receive bonus points. The point system is only relevant in a tie situation.

Hmmm, this will be tough... I don't think i'll be able to find some of those but i'll do what i can... Quick question, can an item fulfill multiple requirements from the same category? Anywho, my first post is:

My pillow (not stolen from a forum tavern :P)
    Red, Soft

    Html code reminder:
    <img src=http://source.com/image.jpg height=pixels width=pixels>

Or just attach the pic to the post using the "Attach a file" link. Whichever is easier.

Edit: Saw rule about first pic, fixing now.

So carrying on from my first post:

    This:
    <img src=http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/fluker5/Scavenger%20hunt/DSC_0002.jpg height=450 width=800>

    Posts this:
    image

    So, we have:
Pillow (again, not stolen from Tavern :P) - Red, Soft
    Blanket - Yellow, Fluffy
    Cushion - Green
3DS - Console less than 2 Years old, Blue, Hard, Smooth
Scrabble - Board game, (also hard :P)
    Stapler - Violet
Luigi DS case - Super Mario Item (What? He was in Super Mario...)
Diablo 2 Disk - Game more than 10 years old
    Earbuds - Orange
Final Fantasy X case - Final Fantasy Game (can replace with image of actual disk if necessary)
Pokemon X Cartridge - Pokemon Game, Game less than 2 Years old

For those playing at home, that's all the required colors, half the tactile sensations and most of the games requirements.

Answered my own question, scratch that. This looks fun.
  • I could have done much better, but here is my day 1 post

(I cut off my final fantasy 4 Ds box)

Also, I don't think a date is needed when I'm using old marketing materials as my proof :)

    Check off:

    Something blue, green, and violet
    A car (blue dodge journey)
    Basket ball
Something rough (bball) and something hard (car)

oh god, i'll have to leave my house for this!

so, i gathered bunch of stuff but camera sucks at night and no color could actually be seen...guess i'll post what i found home tomorrow
  • Day 2 post: Lunch

    image

    Potato chips - Crisps
Cheese & Crackers - Cheese Crackers
    Mixed Nuts - Nuts
    Chocolates - Lindt Chocolate
    Icecream - Icecream, Cold
Foam - Rough, Foamy (foam counts as foamy right?)
  • Once per calendar day, Mages. Technically speaking, if someone wanted to post a picture right before midnight, and one right after midnight, you could have some that are just a minute apart. Gagazet lives in New Zealand, so it's already the 2nd for him.

And I'll spend some time tonight updating my spreadsheet. I'll probably put it up on Google so everyone can view it and compare.
  • I will post mine in the morning when I have more light. :)
  • +9 gmt ftw

  • Warm cold food and drink that is well known in my country
  • That looks like bacon lol...

Didn't mean to quote myself -_-

  • Oh and i ll be using that red card thingy as my proof that i took the pics myself
  • So basically, if its right down to timing, and its between me posting one more picture, and gaga posting it, the fact that he lives in New Zealand where its already the new day, he'd win? Could it not be easier to count it as what date it is in SK? It is late, and i may be missing something completely obvious.

Edit: points enter the equation. Answered my question.
So, I'm not sure if you actually need this explained still, but to be on the safe side, I'll do it anyway. Basically, a calendar day is a calendar day. It doesn't matter that Gagazet's day starts before yours. I'll take that into account. :)
  • @loafery, I'm curious what that food and drink happens to be.

@GagazetSK, That kind of foam was not what I was thinking of when I wrote foamy... But it is foam, and by definition, is therefore foamy, so I'm going to count it. :P

Edit: Btw, if I miss anything in your pictures, then send me a message and let me know. I'm trying to be careful, but there's a lot of things in some of these.
  • I didn't want to do an omnibus 30 thing picture. Would take away some of the longevity of the game. Cheers :) will figure out something tonight.

The one that goes vertical is really rare/expensive compared. Yes, it absolutely works. Like a peach.

My grandma has a top-loader and about 30 games that I will inherit someday to add to my collection :)
