I'd like to take a moment to remember when the Australian army suffered a great loss. I even wrote a poem about it, just for you guys.
There were bullets in the air Flashing about with flair The enemy was swift and cunning Their assault was quite stunning Major Meredith was outnumbered His truck with machine guns encumbered Despite the fact they never flew He could not best the great Emu
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks still bravely singing fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead: Short days ago, We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved: and now we lie In Flanders fields!
Take up our quarrel with the foe To you, from failing hands, we throw The torch: be yours to hold it high If ye break faith with us who die, We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields

highway of heros is a place in ontario where the fallen are flown into trenton army base and driven down the Trans Canada highway to the military burial grounds. Thats what the song is about. The people going out to ethe over passes to thank the soldiers for their duty, one that they volunteered for.
I still hate this holiday. Bunch of lazy government workers get a free day off like they fucking eared it. Yeah, you deserve a day off, mail carrier, while my battle buddies are defending soft assets all over the world and can't get their day off.

Cheers to all the women and men who defend our freedoms and the freedoms of others!
