Damn you beat me to it. I've been looking for an article with pics like those to post. Very neat to look at, though it would be more so without all the spiders... *shudders*
I really love that TED talk MG, I remember seeing it before. He makes a really good point.
The other article, I'm not so sure about. The basic premise is fine, but honestly, I'm not sure things are changing as much as they say. Like, they say the new generation might end up "easily distracted, would lack deep thinking skills and would thirst only for instant gratification." I sort of feel like this could apply to most of humanity throughout the ages. It's not like everyone was reading philosophy every day before we got the net.
By the looks of it the platform will continue to operate, just that they've stopped developing new versions... It shouldn't impact things that badly unless (until?) they formally close it down.
I dunno about that kid, sure it sounds brave but given that he sent out over 600 tweets to multiple actresses it kind of screams desperation... If he had used a more targeted approach it would be different but as i see it he jut spammed and managed to get someone to feel sorry for him. Plus it's a bit lol that he has to pay to have her there, if she really wanted to go wouldn't she stump up the travel costs herself? :P
And only sending tweets to porn stars? kinda tacky, unlike the high school kid who suffers from leukaemia who invited Taylor Swift to his prom...now thats a classy choice. Instead she's invited him as her 'date' to the country music awards thing.
OMG XD Shame doesn't even begin to describe that! :-))
Yeah....and Qatar will host World Cup. I'd laugh my head off if say America wins and then they play the Canadian national anthem hahahaha. Obviously its unrealistic as America will never win the WC cos they're shit but still, the thought is fun. Or South Koreans being played North Korean anthem.
Hell, playing the anthem from another country will still be a step up from playing a parody anthem. Though one of the gaffes mentioned in the article is pretty bad, pretty big claim to announce one's penis is a mountain XD
Not a particularly unusual story in itself, it's not even the biggest amount that we've seen spilled, but the way the article tails into a question of morality is something we haven't seen before. Personally in such a situation i'd slow down to get a better view but probably just keep on driving anyway...
Also, if anyone wants to try to get rich quick in NZ, buy Marmite (if you can get the kiwi version that is):
"Of course I would," she said. "If the armored car had been in an accident of something, I'd make sure the drivers were OK and I'd call 911. But I'd put as much money in my pockets (as I could) and run."
But what if her kids were there? "I absolutely would not take any money," she answered again without hesitation. "I wouldn't want them to get the message that grabbing money that is not yours is the right thing to do."
I dislike this person. If you wouldn't want to give your kids a bad idea of morality, isn't that a sign right there? It's just so hypocritical; "do as I say, not as I do" type of thing.
Another kind of karma occurred to Dennis Lowe, 30, of Providence, R.I. He said it's simple human nature, especially if the money is from an armored truck. He said plenty of Americans are fed up with banks, insurance companies and other corporations that move cash in armored trucks.
"The money is insured," he said while waiting downtown for a bus. "They've been taking money from me, so it's just karma."
I don't like this mindset either, in fact, I hate it. It's not like I can't see the temptation, but I don't like the justification.
