Soldier shot, Parliament locked down after gunfire erupts at war memorial

Eyewitnesses said an armed man with long black hair emerged at the war memorial, fired about four times‎, and a guard went down. The gunman then ran toward Parliament Hill. The shooting victim was taken to hospital in an ambulance. Police have sealed off the area.

I don't really know. It is still ongoing. We are still advice not to get out. Downtown core and Parliament Hill is on lockdown.

Nope. Parliament Hill is Canada's White House.

Its open to public most of the time, its God peaceful here in Canada's capital.

This peaceful capital city changed this morning, a gunman fired on soldiers guarding Canada’s main war memorial.

Schools are lockdown too, and most residents are still advice to stay in their offices and homes.
The whole of downtown core of Ottawa City is lock down as well.

In the US all of the attention would be on him, and you wouldn't get by without knowing who they were.

Same thing happened 4 1/2 months ago where I live (different part of Canada).

Gunman walked around neighbourhoods dressed in camo, with a rifle on his back. Eventually people noticed him and cops were called, and he killed 1 cop in a gunfight. 2 1/2 days later while the entire city shutdown he was caught, 3 cops killed and 2 wounded.

In my 15 years of residing in Ottawa, we are very peaceful.
This is first for us.
