Its probably true. But it still has raised a shit ton more than normal so that's always nice.

The charity's budget is publicly available online.
~8% goes to ALS research
~10% to administration (payroll, etc)
~18% to marketing

It's bad that some people are getting rich off this, but if people didn't donate there'd be $0 going to ALS research instead of the ~$4,000,000 of 50mil raised.
