Feeling a little sentimental.
I wanted to say that I'm grateful to still be here, and that even though I could be a massive douche at times, it's never to hurt anyone, nor is it to grind any gears, but only that I enjoy the conversations that occur here with the interactions of each other.
Anyway, my store was "robbed" tonight, but I managed to save my employees life and my own. Basically, the thief tried to rob my delivery driver by knocking on his window on the passanger side trying to get him to roll it down. The same person had come into my store 30 minutes earlier wondering what time we closed. He was very suspicious to me and put me on my guard for the remaining 30 minutes till closing.
I saw that my driver was still in his car, and had not shut it off, or walked inside. I walked up to the front of the store to open the door for him and make sure he got in safely because I was still on my guard. When I opened the door, I saw the thief tapping on my drivers window and I immediately told him that he needed to leave the property. I signaled for my driver to drive away to somewhere safe by pointing at him, then pointing away, to which he did.
After doing this and walking back inside, I walked to the back door of my store and checked the peep hole to make sure no one was in the back, and there wasn't. I walked back to the front of the store where my dispatch station is and saw the thief walking back and forth in front of the store searching for me. I looked down at my phone to dial 911 then I looked up and he pulled a gun and shot directly at me. I immediately ran to the back of the store, out the back door and to the other end of the building to the dumpsters. Not thinking at the time, but having no where else to go, the dumpsters and everything at the back of the store is blocked off with bob wired fences, so I was trapped. I was on the phone with 911 and about 6 minutes later there were 9 police cars, a helicopter in the sky, shotguns, handguns, and police k9's.
I was welcomed back inside the store after the police had cleared it and we watched the video cameras quickly to get a description of the person. The perimeter was set and I still oddly enough felt no safer. After walking back to the front of the store, the thief had fired 9 bullets at me leaving holes and indentions in multiple places. When I looked at the first initial shot that should have killed me, I discovered that if it was not for the glassed door that was shot through, he would have killed me on the spot. Thinking about my kids, my family... it puts into perspective what death really means. I could only imagine that because I spoiled the guys plans to rob my driver, is the soul reason why he wanted to kill me, when I ran out the back door and he had already shot the glass, he chased quickly to the back door, he gave no mind to the cash in the drawer, or the 3k dollars sitting on my desk in the office, he took nothing.
I can assure you though, SK was not on the top of my list of what went through my head, but I am very thankful that I can still sit here and play with you all, and live in existence just a little bit longer.
